PROHIBITIONS OF IHRAM

Prohibitions of Ihram
A person enters ihram by making the intention for Hajj or Umrah and performing talbiyah. Some actions and behaviors will be haram for him until he comes out of ihram. These harams are called ihram prohibitions.
- Prohibitions related to the person's own body in ihram:
- scent creep,
- Using scented soap,
- Shaving, trimming the mustache,
- Applying henna, using lipstick and nail polish for decoration purposes,
- cutting nails,
- Plucking or cutting hair from any part of the body.
- Plucking or shaving pubic and armpit hair.
- Prohibitions regarding clothing (for men):
- Wearing a skullcap or wrapping a turban on the head,
- Wearing stitched clothes such as trousers, coats and shirts.
- Wearing socks, gloves, or shoes with closed tops and heels.
- The breed prohibits:
- having sexual intercourse,
- Kissing, playing,
- Engaging in words, actions and behaviors that may cause sexual intercourse.
- Prohibitions that harm others:
- to fight,
- To argue and fight,
- To curse, to insult, to break hearts.
- Prohibitions related to the Harem area:
- Plucking, pruning, crushing spontaneously growing green grass and trees,
- Killing harmless animals. (Muhit-i Burhani, 2/458.)
- Prohibitions regarding hunting of land animals:
- Hunting all kinds of land animals, whether their meat is edible or not,
- Giving help to the hunter even with a sign,
- Harming game animals.
